[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] A Thai tour guide who visited Korea and returned has been confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to local media, Sukhum Kanchanapimai, Deputy Minister of Public Health, announced at a press conference on the 28th that a 25-year-old Thai tour guide who recently returned from Korea was confirmed to be infected with COVID-19.
As a result, the cumulative number of COVID-19 patients in Thailand has reached 41.
It has not yet been determined whether the guide was infected with the virus during the visit to Korea or was already infected beforehand.
According to the Ministry of Health, the guide showed symptoms of fever and cough on the 25th, visited a hospital, and tested positive for COVID-19. The guide is currently being transferred to the Nonthaburi Provincial Infectious Disease Center.
Deputy Minister Sukhum explained that they are looking for people who traveled to Korea with the guide as well as passengers who were on the same flight returning to Thailand.
