[Asia Economy Reporter So-yeon Park] LG Hausys has been renovating aging facilities related to the independence movement both domestically and abroad since 2015, leveraging the characteristics of its building materials business in collaboration with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs.
So far, a total of nine independence movement-related facilities have been renovated, including the Provisional Government Office in Chongqing, China, the Seo Jae-pil Memorial Hall, the Maehun Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall, the Udang Lee Hee-young Memorial Hall, the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall, the Manhae Memorial Hall, the Dosan Ahn Chang-ho Memorial Hall, the Simsang Kim Chang-sook Memorial Hall, and the Danjae Shin Chae-ho Memorial Hall.
Among these, the Danjae Shin Chae-ho Memorial Hall exhibits records, photographs, writings, and personal belongings of Shin Chae-ho. Since its opening in 2003, the entrance and exhibition rooms had become quite aged.
Accordingly, LG Hausys, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, and the Danjae Shin Chae-ho Memorial Project Association carried out renovations to allow visitors to conveniently and comfortably view the exhibits related to Shin Chae-ho’s patriotic activities, and the memorial hall was reopened in the second half of last year.
LG Hausys applied its flooring materials and interior films to the entrance and exhibition rooms of the memorial hall during the renovation, and also supplemented the exhibition content and improved facilities to support visitors in enjoying the memorial hall in a pleasant environment.
LG Hausys is also engaged in renovating the homes of national patriots and veterans both domestically and abroad. This is a small way to repay and remember the sacrifices of those who devoted themselves to the country.
Since 2016, a total of 26 individuals have been selected, including 14 independence patriots and their descendants, 9 domestic Korean War veterans, and 3 overseas veterans, and renovation work has been carried out on their homes using materials such as windows, flooring, and engineered stone.
