Korea Exchange Provides 100 Million Won Support to Communities Affected by COVID-19

Active Use of Local Agricultural Products in Commemorative Events

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The Korea Exchange is expanding various social contribution activities to support vulnerable groups and local communities struggling with the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

On the 28th, the Korea Exchange announced that it plans to provide 100 million won in sponsorship funds to related organizations for purposes such as masks, hand sanitizers, disinfection services, and essential goods support.

Additionally, on the 3rd of next month, to commemorate the opening anniversary of the securities market, the Korea Exchange will purchase tomatoes from the Daejeo area in Busan and provide them to outstanding employees, while also holding an event to give flowers to visitors and employees of the exchange. Going forward, the exchange plans to prioritize products from small and medium-sized enterprises and local agricultural and livestock products when selecting souvenirs for various events.

Earlier, on the 6th, the Korea Exchange also donated 30,000 masks and personal hygiene items such as hand sanitizers for 1,450 vulnerable children (from local children's centers and single-parent families).

Jung Ji-won, Chairman of the Korea Exchange, said, "The difficulties faced by vulnerable groups and local communities are worsening due to the spread of COVID-19," adding, "We will continue various sponsorship activities to coexist with vulnerable groups and local communities in the future."
