[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The Taiwanese government has banned medical personnel and others from visiting Korea.
According to Taiwanese media on the 28th, Taiwan's health authorities have prohibited visits by medical personnel and social workers to countries where travel alerts have been raised to the highest level, including Korea. For areas with lower alert levels, Level 1 (Caution) and Level 2 (Warning), departure is only allowed with approval from the affiliated hospital.
Taiwan has issued travel alerts not only for Korea but also for China, Hong Kong, Italy, and others. A representative from Taiwan's health authorities explained that losses related to this will be compensated according to relevant government regulations.
The representative also stated that this measure was taken considering the shortage of medical personnel due to secondary infections and quarantines during the treatment process.
This measure applies to 32,000 doctors and 115,000 nurses.
On the 24th, Taiwan's health authorities raised the travel alert for Korea to Level 3. They also announced that foreigners entering from Korea would be subject to a 14-day home quarantine.
