Kim Jaewon "Impeachment Petition, Stern Judgment of the People... Considering Filing Defamation Charges Against the Democratic Party"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jae-won, Policy Committee Chairman of the United Future Party, described the presidential impeachment petition surpassing 1 million signatures in a short period as a "stern evaluation by the people," countering with a past response from Kang Ki-jung, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Blue House, regarding a petition for party dissolution. He also threatened to file a false accusation lawsuit related to past complaints against the Democratic Party of Korea, which is preparing a proportional representation party.

On the 28th, at the United Future Party's floor countermeasure meeting, Kim said, "Regarding the Moon Jae-in administration's incompetence in quarantine, I will return Kang Senior Secretary's old response."

He pointed out Kang Senior Secretary's past response to a petition for the dissolution of the former Liberty Korea Party, stating, "Considering the large number of citizens participating in such a short time, it is no exaggeration to say this is a stern evaluation by the people of our party and parliamentary politics. Although party evaluations can be made through elections, the demand for party dissolution via a public petition shows impatience in waiting until April next year," and demanded that Kang Senior Secretary respond similarly regarding President Moon.

Regarding the Democratic Party's discussion on establishing a proportional representation party, he said, "Seeing the unveiling of the proportional Democratic Party, which was being prepared last week, is disgusting," and criticized, "Just a few days ago, Floor Leader Lee In-young hurled harsh words calling the Future Korea Party a fake party and bad political agitation."

He added, "The Democratic Party also filed complaints against Representative Hwang Kyo-ahn for allegedly coercing party members to defect to the Future Korea Party," and said, "Judging by their behavior, this is undoubtedly a false accusation, and we will file a complaint after legal review."

He emphasized, "Whether the Democratic Party establishes a proportional party or a disguised party through civic groups, it is a freedom guaranteed by the Constitution, but they must sincerely apologize to the people for the monstrous election law they sowed," and added, "The reason why our party's former leaders and representatives involved in the so-called fast-track trials are being prosecuted is precisely because of the Democratic Party's attempt to forcibly pass this monstrous election law. I hope the judiciary considers all these circumstances in future trials."

He also criticized the 'Korea Passing' related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Kim said, "Globally, Korea Passing is prominent, but the Foreign Minister is wandering in irrelevant places and being embarrassed," and added, "Minister Kang said China's quarantine measures on Koreans are excessive, but China's Global Times says, 'The quarantine issue is more important than diplomatic issues.' I hope the Moon Jae-in administration takes this to heart."
