Gwangju Community Chest of Korea and Gwangju City Join Hands to Overcome 'COVID-19'

Fundraising Campaign Launched... 700 Million KRW Support for Priority Local Community Issue Projects

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Han Sang-won) announced on the 27th that it has signed a business agreement with Gwangju Metropolitan City to overcome the spread of COVID-19 and will start fundraising activities for this purpose.

According to this agreement, 700 million KRW will be proactively supported as project funds to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the local community.

Specifically, 500 million KRW will be allocated to social welfare institutions, organizations, and facilities, and 200 million KRW will be distributed for individual emergency support.

Social welfare institutions, organizations, and facilities can apply for up to 30 million KRW per institution and may use the funds for relief sets to prevent the spread of COVID-19, disinfection of social welfare living and usage facilities, personnel expenses (allowances) for emergency COVID-19 field workers, and other COVID-19 related project costs.

For individuals, support will be provided for the livelihood and medical expenses of confirmed COVID-19 patients (up to 500,000 KRW for living expenses and a medical expense limit of 3 million KRW).

Han Sang-won, chairman of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, said, “I hope we can overcome this crisis together through sharing during this difficult time caused by the COVID-19 virus,” and added, “Active participation from companies, institutions, organizations, and citizens in the Gwangju area is urgently needed.”

A representative of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea said, “The donation accounts for overcoming COVID-19 are Gwangju Bank 013-107-373332 and NongHyup Bank 609-01-089407, Community Chest of Korea Gwangju Branch,” and asked for “much interest and support.”
