131 People in Hotel Quarantine
Remaining 95 in Self-Quarantine
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Korean passengers are being quarantined after consecutive cases of fever symptoms were detected on flights departing from Korea and arriving at various airports in China.
According to the Korean Embassy in China on the 27th, a total of 226 Koreans were quarantined at airports in Nanjing, Shenyang, Shenzhen, Weihai, and other locations from the 24th to the 26th. Among them, 131 were quarantined in hotels, and the remaining 95 were switched to self-quarantine.
The number of quarantined passengers by location is 49 in Weihai, Shandong Province; 13 in Yantai; 49 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province; 37 in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province; and 65 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.
The number of Korean passengers quarantined in China is expected to increase further. If even one passenger with fever symptoms is found on board, all nearby passengers become suspected cases.
Tianjin Airlines reportedly notified that, regardless of fever symptoms, all passengers arriving on flights from Korea and Japan after the 28th will be quarantined in hotels. Passengers will be distributed by residence onto buses and then transported to hotels. All related costs will be borne by Tianjin City.
An Asiana Airlines official said, "We received a verbal notice from quarantine authorities that all passengers arriving in Tianjin on flights from Korea and Japan after the 28th will be quarantined in designated hotels," adding, "We will announce any changes in the future."
