President Moon: "'Quarantined' Chinese Wuhan Evacuees to Reunite with Families Today... Thanks to Icheon Citizens"

[Asia Economy Reporter Son Sun-hee] President Moon Jae-in said on the 27th, "The 148 Wuhan evacuees and their families who stayed at the Icheon temporary living facility for two weeks safely returned to their families today," adding, "I sincerely thank the evacuees who endured quarantine, the citizens of Icheon who warmly embraced them, the joint support team, and all the families who stood together with courage and sharing in the face of difficulties."

President Moon said this through his Facebook in the afternoon, stating, "This is a time when united strength is desperately needed." On the same day, as the evacuees were discharged from the quarantine facility, the 40 members of the joint support team who had been caring for them also returned home.

President Moon said, "The people are stepping forward to help the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, where there are many confirmed (COVID-19) cases," adding, "Building owners, banks, and public institutions are lowering rents to share the pain, and the dedication of medical personnel, including public health doctors, is moving. Companies are also contributing through donations and relief supplies."

He continued, "Anyone who can help should lend their strength," and said, "The united strength of the people is the driving force that has overcome adversity in the Republic of Korea." He also expressed, "I pay tribute to the people who are showing remarkable cohesion and resilience in the face of the crisis brought by COVID-19."

President Moon said, "The government will do its best until the end to overcome COVID-19," and added, "We will also focus our capabilities on revitalizing the weakened economy. I believe that when we rely on and encourage each other, the crisis will turn into hope."
