[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Shinsegae Group is pooling the intentions of all its executives and employees to donate 1 billion KRW to support recovery from the damage caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
This donation is planned to be contributed to the 'Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association' and will be primarily used to support medical personnel and vulnerable groups in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions.
The National Disaster Relief Association is a purely private relief organization that has been conducting relief activities nationwide since 1961 during various disasters. Shinsegae Group has also supported affected areas through this association during the Seomun Market fire in 2016 and the Gangwon Province wildfires in 2019.
In addition to this donation, Shinsegae Group announced that it plans to actively support efforts for the rapid overcoming of COVID-19 as a member of the local community.
Shinsegae Group Vice Chairman Chung Yong-jin said, “We have prepared this donation to offer some support to medical personnel dedicated to overcoming COVID-19 and to vulnerable groups facing difficulties,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to overcome COVID-19 as soon as possible.”
Prior to this, on the 24th, Shinsegae Group donated 100,000 masks to the Social Disaster Division of Daegu Metropolitan City through E-Mart.
