On the 16th, 4,890 People Fully Surveyed for Shincheonji Worship in Gwacheon... 215 'Symptomatic' Cases

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] On the 16th, a full survey of 4,890 residents of Gyeonggi-do who attended the Shincheonji Jesus Church worship service in Gwacheon found that 215 were classified as 'symptomatic cases' of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Gyeonggi-do announced on the 27th that among the 9,930 people who attended the Shincheonji Church worship service in Gwacheon on the 16th, 4,890 residents of Gyeonggi-do were urgently prioritized for a full survey, confirming 215 symptomatic cases.

Earlier, on the 26th, the province began a full survey of 33,582 Shincheonji believers in the province. The province plans to verify whether these symptomatic individuals have been tested and to have all of them undergo testing. Even if the test results are negative, they will maintain self-quarantine for 14 days until the release date.

Additionally, to prepare for the possibility of asymptomatic infection, all attendees of the worship service on the 16th will be placed under self-quarantine and undergo infection testing, even if they show no symptoms.

So far, eight confirmed cases have been reported among the attendees of that day's worship service.

The province will also continuously track the whereabouts of 195 people who could not be reached by phone and 28 people without contact information, seeking cooperation from the police.

Meanwhile, on the 25th, the province revealed that there is a discrepancy between the list of Gyeonggi-do believers obtained directly from the Shincheonji headquarters in Gwacheon and the list sent by Shincheonji to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC).

The list of Gyeonggi-do believers that the KCDC reportedly received from Shincheonji contains 31,608 people, which is 1,974 fewer than the 33,582 people on the list secured by Gyeonggi-do.

Among these, the number of duplicates appearing on both the Shincheonji and Gyeonggi-do lists is 31,411.

There are 2,171 believers who appear only on the Gyeonggi-do list but not on the Shincheonji list. Conversely, 197 believers are listed only on the Shincheonji-provided list.
