Payment of 100,000 KRW in Gangjin Sarang Gift Certificates
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 27th that it has been promoting the ‘Voluntary Surrender of Driver’s Licenses by Elderly Drivers’ since this month.
Elderly drivers aged 70 and over who voluntarily surrender their driver’s licenses will receive 100,000 KRW worth of Gangjin Love Gift Certificates.
This project is a system designed to encourage elderly drivers, who are more likely to cause traffic accidents due to difficulty in responding quickly in emergencies, to voluntarily surrender their driver’s licenses and use public transportation.
The support target is residents of Gangjin-gun aged 70 or older (born on or before December 31, 1950), and the program has been expanded to provide the same benefits for those who surrender a motorcycle driver’s license. Those who did not apply for incentives after voluntarily surrendering their driver’s licenses last year can also receive support this year.
The application procedure is to surrender the driver’s license at the Gangjin Police Station and then apply to the Safety, Disaster, and Transportation Division of Gangjin County Office with the driver’s license cancellation decision notice issued.
Lee Seung-ok, the mayor of Gangjin-gun, said, “We ask for the active interest and participation of the residents in the voluntary surrender system to minimize traffic accidents involving elderly drivers, which are increasing every year.”
