[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Broadcaster Kim Je-dong has provided daily necessities to the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, where confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection are rapidly increasing.

On the 25th, 'Kim Je-dong and Eokkaedongmu' announced via Instagram, "Putting other projects aside, we put our heads together with Kim Je-dong to provide the necessary help to the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions."

Kim Je-dong's team stated, "It seems necessary now to prevent feelings of isolation, and we agreed to help within our capacity in places where it is difficult to reach out."

They added, "Activists from Eokkaedongmu in the Daegu area informed us about the difficulties faced by residents of the jjokbangchon (small room villages) due to the suspension of free meals," and explained, "We urgently procured ramen, kimchi, and hand sanitizers and sent them yesterday and today."

They continued, "We bow our heads in gratitude to the medical professionals who are working selflessly, and hope that through care and solidarity, we can overcome this crisis together," adding, "We will quietly continue to do what we can."

The photos released along with the post showed daily necessities such as kimchi, ramen, and hand sanitizers intended for support in Daegu and Gyeongbuk.

'Kim Je-dong and Eokkaedongmu' is a public interest organization established in 2016 by comedian Kim Je-dong together with young people in their 20s and 30s.

Many people are experiencing difficulties and concerns due to COVID-19.

Kim Je-dong and Eokkaedongmu put other projects aside and put our heads together with Kim Je-dong to provide the necessary help to the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. It seems necessary now to prevent feelings of isolation, and we agreed to help within our capacity in places where it is difficult to reach out.

First, activists from Eokkaedongmu in the Daegu area informed us about the situation of the jjokbangchon residents who are struggling due to the suspension of free meals. So, we urgently procured ramen, kimchi, and hand sanitizers and sent them yesterday and today.

These people are worried that this situation will continue for a long time. Therefore, we discussed providing additional food supplies to the jjokbangchon in Daegu for the time being.
