Gyeonggi-do Conducts 'Emergency Full Survey' of 33,582 Shincheonji-affiliated Believers in the Province

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has secured a list of Shincheonji Church members in the province and has begun an urgent full-scale survey of them.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that, in consultation with Shincheonji, it started a full survey of 33,582 Shincheonji members in the province from the 26th. This full survey will continue until the 28th.

The province previously obtained a list of 33,582 affiliated members in the province from Shincheonji. Among them were 15 people newly confirmed to have visited Daegu. Also included were 4,890 residents of Gyeonggi Province among the 9,930 attendees at the Shincheonji Church worship service in Gwacheon on the 16th.

The province involved 210 Shincheonji members from the church in this survey. This measure was taken following experts' advice that, due to the nature of Shincheonji believers, they often do not answer calls from unknown people.

These members directly call the individuals on the list to inquire about symptoms and whether they have been tested at health centers, and guide them to screening clinics.

The province formed a survey team of 49 people, including public officials. They are responsible for attending survey locations, distributing and collecting survey forms, and organizing and compiling survey results.

Based on the full survey, the province plans to prepare a detailed response plan. For non-respondents and unreachable individuals, the province will cooperate with the police to locate them.

A provincial official explained, "To prevent the spread of community infection as much as possible, we mobilized Shincheonji personnel to quickly conduct the full survey," and added, "We are concentrating all administrative power of the province to produce reliable results."
