Gangnam-gu Implements Smart Driver's License Issuance System

Improving Issuance Method of Construction Equipment Operator and Hunting Licenses: Reducing Time from 30 to 5 Minutes, Preventing Forgery and Contamination with PVC Material

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) has been fully implementing the ‘Smart License Issuance System’ since the 21st.

The system issues construction machinery operator and hunting licenses as PVC plastic cards, the same as automobile driver’s licenses, reducing the waiting time from over 30 minutes to just 5 minutes.

The new licenses improve on previous issues by enhancing portability, offering semi-permanent use resistant to scratches and contamination, incorporating security holograms to prevent forgery, and providing high-resolution printing, thereby increasing customer satisfaction.

Lee Jae-ho, Head of the Civil Affairs and Passport Division, stated, “This system is expected to provide more convenient services to approximately 3,000 construction machinery operator and hunting license renewal and reissuance applicants annually,” adding, “As we enter the first year of the smart city era, we will expand a ‘future-oriented attractive city’ through various customized lifestyle services for residents.”
