Gyeonggi Office of Education Encourages Local Government Employees to Work from Home Until the 6th of Next Month

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has decided to encourage remote work for local government employees under its jurisdiction from the 27th of this month until the 6th of next month to prevent the community spread of the "Novel Coronavirus Infection" (COVID-19).

This measure follows the escalation of the COVID-19 crisis alert level from "caution" to "serious" on the 23rd.

The Gyeonggi Office of Education will prioritize approval of remote work for employees who are pregnant, have underlying health conditions, or have children aged 10 or younger.

Remote work is possible if the employee has the basic environment such as a PC and computer equipment to perform tasks from home.

Anyone who wishes to apply can do so, but priority is given to employees with children aged 10 or younger, pregnant employees, and those with underlying health conditions.

Also, in the case of couples who are both government employees, only one of them can apply.

Kim Seon-tae, General Affairs Manager of the Gyeonggi Office of Education, emphasized, "The Gyeonggi Office of Education will assign essential personnel by institution and department to ensure that preparations for the 2020 new school year, COVID-19 prevention, and public services proceed without disruption despite remote work."
