[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Emart announced on the 27th that it will sell daily necessities such as Samgyeopsal, Moksim, rice, and Jeju galchi at up to 40% cheaper prices to celebrate the 1st anniversary of 'Gukmin Price,' a 'National Household Savings Project.'
Emart has selected about 30 daily necessities, including fresh foods, processed goods, and household items, as Gukmin Price products until March 3rd, offering discounts of up to 40% and buy-one-get-one-free deals.
First, to celebrate 'Samgyeopsal Day' on March 3rd and allow families to enjoy Samgyeopsal affordably at home, Emart has pre-contracted and been selling about 400 tons of domestic Samgyeopsal and Moksim since January, limited to 2 kg per person.
Due to the ongoing popularity of 'Naengsam' (frozen Samgyeopsal), frozen Samgyeopsal thin slices and grilled cuts have been newly planned with domestic products instead of imported ones, prepared at prices cheaper than imported products.
For 'home meal families,' representative daily necessities such as rice have also been prepared at affordable prices. Emart planned this event's products with 'Uiseong Ilpum,' a single variety known for its taste and stickiness, in collaboration with Uiseong County. Uiseong Ilpum rice is 2,000 won cheaper than 'Uiseong Jin Rice,' a Gukmin Price rice product that was sold at a 25% discount in February last year.
In addition, 15 tons of the national fish 'Jeju Silver Hairtail (per fish, special, thawed),' domestic No. 6 chicken (around 500g) fried crispy with a thin batter as old-fashioned whole chicken 'Hanmari Tongdak,' and 'Choco Chip Mongttang,' a crispy pastry topped with sweet custard cream and chocolate chips, will be sold at discounted prices.
Also, various daily necessities such as kimchi, gochujang, laundry detergent, and toothpaste are prepared as buy-one-get-one-free promotional items.
Gukmin Price products offer an additional 10% discount on top of the existing discounted price when paid with KB Kookmin Card (except KB Kookmin BC). Additional discount benefits such as free bagged ramen and up to 10,000 won extra discount are also prepared depending on the card company and purchase amount.
Choi Hunhak, Emart's marketing manager, said, "To commemorate the 1st anniversary of Gukmin Price, which is responsible for the national shopping basket, we are conducting a large-scale discount event focusing on daily necessities," adding, "Emart will do its best to supply daily necessities such as Samgyeopsal and rice to customers affordably and stably."
