[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) produced and hung 300 banner-type Taegukgi flags along a 3.8km section of Mangu-ro (from Jungnang Bridge to Manguri Park) on the 27th to commemorate the 101st anniversary of the March 1st Movement.

One side of the banner features the Taegukgi flag, while the other side introduces patriotic martyrs and cultural artists interred at Manguri Park. The banners will be replaced quarterly, four times a year.

The quarterly themes are ▲ "101st Anniversary of the March 1st Movement and 100th Anniversary of the Death of Yu Gwan-sun" (Spring) ▲ "The Sound of Independence Resonating in Manguri Park" (Summer) ▲ "Blooming Manguri Park, the Joy of Literature" (Autumn) ▲ "Figures of Manguri Park" (Winter).

The banner-type Taegukgi flags displayed this time will remain hung even after the March 1st holiday, playing a central role in promoting Manguri Park.

Manguri Park is the resting place of heroes of the March 1st Movement such as Yu Gwan-sun, independence activists like Han Yong-un and Oh Se-chang, and prominent figures from various fields including culture, arts, and medicine such as Park In-hwan, Lee Jung-seop, Lee In-seong, and Ji Seok-young.

Jungnang-gu has long strived to develop Manguri Park into Seoul’s premier historical and cultural park and plans to promote it more actively to Seoul citizens this year.

Last year, Jungnang-gu conducted a fundraising campaign called the "74th Liberation Day 8.15 Commemorative History Memory Fund," producing and hanging Taegukgi banners to honor the patriotic martyrs resting in Manguri Park. Part of the raised funds was used to support descendants of independence activists, receiving enthusiastic responses from residents.

Additionally, in October last year, banners were donated by the Korea Racing Authority Jungnang Branch and hung to commemorate the achievements of major modern and contemporary Korean cultural artists resting in Manguri Park, including Park In-hwan, Bang Jeong-hwan, Lee Jung-seop, and Han Yong-un.

Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi of Jungnang-gu said, "Manguri Park is a historical and cultural park unlike any other in Seoul. This year, we will continuously display banners along Mangu-ro commemorating the patriotic martyrs and cultural artists resting in Manguri Park, widely promoting the park to Seoul citizens and carrying out activities to raise residents’ historical awareness."
