100 Additional Public Work Jobs Selected to Respond to COVID-19 Crisis... New Jobs in Quarantine and Health Personnel and Expansion of Existing Projects to Overcome Economic Downturn
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is urgently providing livelihood jobs to vulnerable groups facing crisis due to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
The public work project is a job program that provides public sector jobs to vulnerable groups to guarantee basic livelihood, helps participants cultivate employment skills through job experience, and supports their independence.
The district is currently operating 236 people selected for 62 public work projects in the first half of the year, and will select an additional 100 people through this urgent job support related to COVID-19.
The selection fields are ▲ jobs related to COVID-19 quarantine and health personnel ▲ jobs related to relief projects for workers in industries affected by COVID-19, and expansion of existing public work project participants will also be promoted.
Considering the urgency of the project due to COVID-19, the district will prioritize selection from the waiting list of existing public work projects rather than new recruitment, and will begin personnel placement from March 2.
In addition, personnel placement according to additional demand will be carried out as soon as possible, and new public job sectors will be discovered for workers in traditional markets, tourism, dining, and other sectors affected directly or indirectly by COVID-19.
Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We have decided to prioritize support for 100 public work jobs to help residents who are facing economic downturn concerns and livelihood difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation,” and added, “Through additional personnel, we will actively respond to COVID-19 by disinfecting multi-use facilities and supporting traditional market operations, and do our best for quarantine measures and revitalization of the local economy.”
