[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] A man in his 30s, confirmed to have recently visited Daegu, was found dead in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to the Hwaseong Western Police Station on the 26th, at around 8:50 a.m., Mr. A (36) was found dead in an officetel located in Gumuncheon-ri, Hyangnam-eup.
A colleague of Mr. A, worried because he had not contacted anyone or gone to work for two days, visited his home and discovered him deceased, then reported it to the police.
It was investigated that Mr. A had visited his hometown Daegu for two days from the 9th to the 10th.
According to the police, there were no confirmed COVID-19 cases or Shincheonji Church members at his family home.
The police, finding no signs of criminal suspicion, presumed that Mr. A died from a pre-existing condition during sleep, and requested a COVID-19 test for Mr. A from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
The police plan to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death once the test results are available.
