[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jonghyo] Two additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) have been reported in Busan, bringing the total to 57.
The additional confirmed cases are number 56 (born in 1968, female, Busanjin-gu) and number 57 (born in 1995, male, Haeundae-gu). The infection route of case 56 has not yet been identified. Case 57 is presumed to have been infected by attending the Oncheon Church retreat on February 16.
As of 5 p.m., Busan City announced that among the confirmed cases, 29 are related to Oncheon Church, 4 to Shincheonji, 4 to case number 2, 7 to Daegu, 1 to the Asiad Nursing Hospital, and 12 others, totaling 57 confirmed cases.
Previously, Oncheon Church held its own retreat from the 14th to the 17th of this month. About 150 people, mainly young believers, voluntarily attended for either 1 night and 2 days or 2 nights and 3 days. More than half of the total 57 confirmed cases, 29 people, were confirmed to be related to Oncheon Church, but the initial infected person has not yet been identified.
Busan City and health authorities are reportedly facing difficulties in epidemiological investigations because the exact number of retreat participants is unknown and the dates of attendance vary individually among believers.
