Honam University to Hold 'Online Entrance Ceremony' on the 2nd of Next Month

As COVID-19 showed a spreading trend, Honam University fully canceled events such as graduation and entrance ceremonies following the Ministry of Education's recommendations. However, to warmly welcome freshmen entering the university with dreams and hopes at a new starting point, they prepared an "online entrance ceremony."

The online entrance ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast for about 30 minutes starting at 11 a.m. on the 2nd of next month through the YouTube channel "HonamDaetv."

The entrance ceremony, hosted by the Honam University Integrated News Center and the Department of Journalism and Broadcasting, will proceed in the order of academic report, declaration of entrance permission, freshman oath, and welcoming speech by President Park Sangcheol.

Various programs celebrating the freshmen's entrance have also been prepared, including congratulatory performances by the student band "Black Bear" and the faculty and staff band "Jigeukjeongseong" joint band.

Freshmen and current students who wish to participate in the online entrance ceremony can access YouTube by 10:50 a.m. on the day, search for the official Honam University channel "HonamDaetv," subscribe, and set notifications to join the YouTube entrance ceremony.

Honam University Integrated News Center, the nation's only multi-journalist training institution among universities, has been operating since March 2009 by integrating four campus media organizations: Honam University Newspaper, Broadcasting Station, English Newspaper, and Chinese Quarterly into a single organization.

The Integrated News Center provides education on all practical aspects of newspaper and broadcasting, including reporting, broadcast production, photo and video shooting and editing, and announcing, to about 20 student reporters to cultivate multi-journalists.

It publishes the Honam University Newspaper and the Chinese Honam University Newspaper, and operates the HonamDaetv channel through SNS platforms such as YouTube and Facebook, along with radio broadcasting.

In particular, during the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade, it was selected as the operating institution for the World University Student LTE Broadcast UNIV, broadcasting the live event worldwide, greatly contributing to the successful hosting of the Gwangju Universiade, and is recognized as a leading university media representative.

Last year, they opened the Magic Studio equipped with two TV studios, a radio studio, a main control room, and state-of-the-art broadcasting facilities and video equipment, accelerating the training of video creators and multi-journalists.
