Seodongyong Preliminary Candidate "I Will Continue the Promises of Candidates An Junnno and Park Geunpyo"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 26th, Seo Dong-yong, the Democratic Party primary candidate for Gwangyang·Gokseong·Gurye, announced that he would inherit the good pledges of candidates An Jun-no and Park Geun-pyo, who competed as preliminary candidates for a long time.

In his remarks on being selected as the primary candidate, Seo Dong-yong expressed his condolences to the two candidates and said, “We, who braved the rain and sweated together while running around events in Gwangyang·Gokseong·Gurye, were competitors and close comrades. I understand the dissatisfaction with the primary candidate screening results,” expressing regret, and added, “I will inherit and further develop the pledges containing the valuable opinions of the two candidates, who have worked hard in the region for a long time, and if elected as a member of the National Assembly, I will definitely fulfill them.”

Candidate Seo said, “The party should clearly clarify through a re-examination so that there is no injustice, and if permitted, I would like to discuss and further develop candidate An Jun-no’s number one pledge, ‘Enactment of a Special Act for Regional Balanced Development.’”

He also actively extended his hand, saying, “I want to work together with candidate Park Geun-pyo to prepare measures to revitalize the regional economy.”

Meanwhile, candidate An Jun-no has filed for a re-examination in objection to the Democratic Party primary candidate screening, and the results are drawing attention. On the morning of the 26th, he held a press conference to express his sorrow and passionately denounced the unfairness of the Democratic Party’s screening results, focusing public interest on his future actions.

Preliminary candidate Seo Dong-yong served as a legal and human rights special advisor to presidential candidate Moon Jae-in and was recruited as the chairman of the Legal and Human Rights Committee of the Democratic Party’s Gwangyang·Gokseong·Gurye Regional Committee. He also served as the vice chairman of the Democratic Party Policy Committee.

He served as the campaign committee chairman for the Democratic Party candidate for Gwangyang mayor in the 2018 local elections and worked as a human rights lawyer affiliated with Minbyun, handling cases such as legal support for victims of violent suppression during candlelight rallies, female victims of violence, and migrant workers.

Since opening his law office in Jungmadong in 2015, candidate Seo has been engaged in activities such as protecting tenants affected by the conversion of rental apartments to sale, acting as a representative in the retrial lawsuit of the Yeosun Incident, and efforts to save Gwangyang Health University.
