Citibank Implements Remote Work for Some Headquarters Staff in Response to COVID-19 Seoul Dadong Korea Citibank Headquarters

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Korea Citibank is the first among banks to implement remote work to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

Citibank announced on the 26th that after holding an emergency management meeting on the 25th, it decided to immediately implement remote work for some employees at the head office.

The remote work target includes head office employees who are capable of working remotely, and with the approval of their department heads, they will work from home until the 2nd of next month. If the COVID-19 situation continues, the remote work period may be extended. However, branches will operate normally.

Additionally, employees and their family members who have visited Daegu or Cheongdo in Gyeongbuk since the 15th or have had close contact with residents of those areas are required to report to their department head, HR department, and crisis response team. Employees who have been to these areas must work from home for 7 days even if they show no symptoms of COVID-19. During this period, they are instructed not to go outside their homes and to closely monitor their health condition.

According to the emergency response plan, all employees must have their temperature checked when entering the workplace, and those showing symptoms such as high fever are not allowed to enter office spaces. They must take leave or work from home until they recover. Group activities are also prohibited, and small group meetings at branches and centers are restricted.

A Citibank official stated, “In response to the rapidly escalating COVID-19 situation, management decided to immediately implement these measures from the 25th to actively protect bank employees, their families, customers, and franchises.”
