Hayu-seong, Director of Gwangju Veterans Affairs Office, Visits Patriotic Martyrs for Consolation


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Ha Yuseong, head of the Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office, announced on the 26th that he visited patriotic veterans on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the March 1st Movement, delivering consolation gifts in the name of the President and the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, and expressed respect and gratitude.


On the day, Director Ha visited Lee Junsu (97 years old) and Noh Donghun (92 years old), surviving patriotic veterans residing in Gwangju Metropolitan City, as well as the grandchildren of Shin Hongsik, one of the 33 national representatives.


Considering the spread of COVID-19, the meeting was conducted simply without a roundtable discussion.


Surviving patriotic veteran Lee Junsu was awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation, Patriotic Medal in 1990 in recognition of his contributions to the activities of the Liberation Army. Noh Donghun received a Presidential Citation in 1995 for his contributions as a member of the Mudeung Reading Society and as a liaison for the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. The late Shin Hongsik participated as a national representative during the March 1st Movement, circulated the Declaration of Independence, and led the three cheers for independence, for which he was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation, Presidential Medal in 1962.
