[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] As the sports utility vehicle (SUV) market rapidly grows in the completed car industry, Hankook Tire & Technology (hereinafter, Hankook Tire) is actively targeting the global SUV original equipment tire (OET) supply market.
Contracts for supplying original equipment tires require strict verification, representing the tire company's technological capability and quality. Based on continuous R&D innovation, proven technology, and excellent quality competitiveness, Hankook Tire is expanding strategic partnerships with global premium brands and supplying original equipment tires to approximately 320 models across 46 completed car brands worldwide.
Generally, tires are divided into on-road tires, which offer comfortable ride and low noise, and off-road tires, which are capable of driving on rough roads such as gravel and unpaved roads. Since these two types of tires have opposite advantages, it is difficult to have both benefits simultaneously. In response, Hankook Tire is introducing ultra-high-performance SUV tires that provide sedan-level ride comfort and both on- and off-road driving capabilities.
Last year, Hankook Tire signed an original equipment tire supply contract for the third generation of Porsche’s super premium SUV model, the Cayenne. Additionally, after signing an OE supply contract for the German premium car brand Audi’s "The New Q8," Hankook Tire also supplies original equipment tires for the high-performance SUV model of the Q8, the "New Audi SQ8 TDI," further strengthening partnerships with global premium car brands.
Hankook Tire plans to continue strengthening partnerships with world-class premium completed car brands through global top tire technology based on R&D innovation, while continuously expanding its premium original equipment tire business line across various models including flagship sedans, high-performance sports cars, and premium SUVs.
