[Asia Economy Reporter Park Soyeon] The POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation will promote two projects supporting disabled artists and national veterans as representative projects this year, selected from the new business idea contest entries.
The POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation announced on the 26th that it selected 11 excellent ideas from the 'New Business Idea Contest for Creating a Better World.'
Among them, the 'Disabled Artists Popularization Project' and the 'National Veterans Advanced Assistive Device Support Program' will be promoted as the foundation's representative projects.
The POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation, funded by 1% salary donations from POSCO executives and managers, held an open collaboration idea contest in January, allowing both organizations and individuals to apply, aiming to discover various new projects for the first time since its establishment in 2013.
The contest received a total of 271 ideas focusing on future generations, multiculturalism, people with disabilities, and culture and arts. After evaluation, one grand prize, four excellence awards, and six encouragement awards were selected.
The grand prize-winning idea, 'Disabled Artists Popularization Project: I am an Artist,' was proposed by the Korea Disabled Artists Association to provide more diverse communication opportunities to disabled artists, 82% of whom have never even had a chance to present their work.
The POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation plans to discover disabled artists with expertise in the cultural and artistic fields who are not well known to the public but have beautiful stories of hope from despair or messages of challenge, and support the production of video content and collaborations with famous YouTubers.
