[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] "If voluntary win-win cooperation efforts come together, we can definitely overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) crisis."

Park Young-sun, Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said this on the morning of the 26th at the 'Mask Supply Agreement Ceremony through Voluntary Win-Win Cooperation' held at Gongyoung Home Shopping in Sangam-dong, Seoul, adding, "I appreciate the efforts of good and considerate companies that voluntarily joined forces to overcome COVID-19."

The agreement ceremony was hosted by Gongyoung Home Shopping, a public institution under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, to express gratitude to companies actively participating in the additional supply of 'no-margin' masks and to promote the win-win model.

Attendees included Park Young-sun, Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups; Kim Jong-ho, Head of Samsung Electronics Smart Factory Support Center; Jeon Hae-sang, CEO of Toray Advanced Materials; Lee Hyun-chul, CEO of Hwajin Industry; Ha Chun-wook, CEO of CNTUS Sungjin; and Choi Chang-hee, CEO of Gongyoung Home Shopping.

Mask manufacturers Hwajin Industry and CNTUS Sungjin each agreed to supply 1 million masks, totaling 2 million masks, to Gongyoung Home Shopping at no margin. Gongyoung Home Shopping signed the mask supply agreement with these companies on the day.

Hwajin Industry, after establishing a smart factory with support from Samsung Electronics and the government, increased its mask production from 40,000 to 100,000 units per day, more than doubling output. As a way to give back to society, they decided to supply 1 million masks.

Samsung Electronics, in addition to supporting the smart factory, connected Hwajin Industry, which was experiencing production difficulties due to a shortage of filters, with Toray Advanced Materials. Toray Advanced Materials agreed to urgently produce and supply mask filters to Hwajin Industry.

CNTUS Sungjin also decided to supply an additional 800,000 masks. Including the 200,000 masks already promised earlier this month, the total supply volume will be expanded to 1 million masks.

Gongyoung Home Shopping has been broadcasting and selling masks and hand sanitizers daily immediately upon arrival since the 17th to stabilize supply amid shortages caused by COVID-19. They are selling at no margin to stabilize prices.

This voluntary win-win cooperation was led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups acting as a connector. To respond to the spread of COVID-19, the ministry has continuously secured and supplied masks in cooperation not only with other ministries but also with organizations such as the Korea Federation of SMEs.

Minister Park Young-sun said, "This agreement ceremony is a successful example showing strong power when small things come together," adding, "We will mobilize all possible resources of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to overcome the COVID-19 crisis and ensure the safety of the people."
