Cheongwadae Applies Stricter Standards Than KCDC... Temporary Tension Due to Lee Seungho, Daegu Deputy Mayor's Secretary Testing Positive
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Blue House has lifted the 'self-quarantine' for the companions of President Moon Jae-in during the special countermeasure meeting in Daegu. This decision came after Lee Seung-ho, the Deputy Mayor of Daegu Economic Affairs who was present at the meeting venue, tested negative for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Earlier, when it was revealed that the deputy mayor's secretary tested positive for COVID-19, attention was focused not only on the deputy mayor but also on those who were present at the meeting.
The Blue House sent a text message to those who accompanied President Moon on his Daegu visit, stating, "On February 25, the Daegu schedule team was informed that the deputy mayor's secretary tested positive for COVID-19. Therefore, the deputy mayor and those who had contact or passed through the same space are classified as close contacts and are requested to self-quarantine for seven days starting today."
Even if they did not have direct contact with the deputy mayor, the Blue House took this measure considering safety. This action by the Blue House applies stricter standards than the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and applies to both staff and attending reporters.
With the deputy mayor testing negative for COVID-19, the burden on those who attended the special countermeasure meeting held at Daegu City Hall on the 25th has been eased.
The meeting was attended by President Moon Jae-in, Yoo Eun-hye, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, Jin Young, Minister of the Interior and Safety, Park Neung-hoo, Minister of Health and Welfare, among others. Also present were Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu, Bae Ji-sook, Chairperson of the Daegu City Council, and Kang Eun-hee, Superintendent of Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education.
