President Moon to Consider Meeting with Ruling and Opposition Party Leaders... "Will Review"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, stated on the 26th regarding Kim Hyung-o, the Future United Party’s nomination committee chairman, expressing his intention to meet with him, “I also saw it through the media, but there is no reason not to meet anyone.”
On the same day, on MBC Radio’s ‘Kim Jong-bae’s Focus,’ Ahn said, “(The reason for meeting) is something you can only understand by listening to the story.”
Regarding the possibility of an alliance between the People’s Party and the Future United Party, Ahn said, “Since Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Future United Party, and Chairman Kim have already stated that they are not considering an alliance, I have no reason to comment separately,” adding, “Don’t ask me, ask them now.”
About People’s Party lawmakers and non-parliamentary committee chairpersons moving to the Future United Party, Ahn explained, “I understand that politicians have practical concerns,” and “Each person’s situation is different and they have various concerns, so I have clearly stated my position that I will respect their judgment on that matter.”
Regarding President Moon Jae-in’s initiative to hold a meeting with leaders of both ruling and opposition parties concerning the COVID-19 situation, Ahn said, “I think it is right for the political circles to unite and pool their strength,” and added, “I will consider it.”
