[Breaking] 3 Additional COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Cheonan... Including Sports Dance Instructor

[Asia Economy (Cheonan) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] In Cheonan, three additional confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were reported in a single day on the 25th. As of that day, the total number of confirmed cases in Chungnam Province is counted as four.

According to Chungnam Province and Cheonan City on the 26th, on the previous day in Cheonan, Ms. A (47, female) was confirmed positive for COVID-19 around 10 a.m., followed by Ms. B (female in her 50s) and Ms. C (female in her 40s) who were simultaneously confirmed positive around 3 p.m.

They all commonly underwent testing at a screening clinic between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the 24th due to symptoms such as fever, and it was confirmed that they were self-quarantined during the testing period (from the 24th until confirmation on the 25th). It is also reported that all of them have been transferred to hospitals equipped with negative pressure rooms for treatment.

The issue is that among the confirmed cases, the relationship between Ms. A and Ms. B was identified as student and instructor in dance sports, and in the case of instructor Ms. B, she recently taught dance sports face-to-face to multiple students besides Ms. A, raising the possibility of additional confirmed cases.

Accordingly, the province and city are conducting epidemiological investigations into the recent movement paths of Ms. A and others, while immediately closing and disinfecting businesses included in their movement paths. In addition, 28 contacts identified through the statements of Ms. A and others have been placed under self-quarantine.

Ms. A and others have no recent travel history to Daegu or Gyeongbuk regions and are not related to Shincheonji.

Meanwhile, in Chungnam, on the 21st, Lieutenant D (25) of the Daegu military unit was confirmed positive for COVID-19 during a business trip to Gyeryong. Lieutenant D was the first confirmed case in the region, and with the addition of Ms. A and three others, the total number of confirmed cases in Chungnam has increased to four.
