'Hologram Video Depicting the History of Seongsu-dong' Released

Seongdong-gu Projects Hologram Exhibits of Seongsu-dong's Past and Present on Glass Walls of Seongsu Industrial Innovation Space Building...Emerges as a Night View Attraction

'Hologram Video Depicting the History of Seongsu-dong' Released Near Ttukseom Station, a hologram artwork depicting Seongsu's past and present, titled "Miracle City (氣積都市)," is being projected on the exterior wall of the Seongsu Industrial Innovation Space building.

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] A dazzling hologram reflected on the trendy red glass-walled two-story building near Ttukseom Station in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, catches the eyes of passersby.

Between the brilliant lights, the past and present scenes of Seongsu-dong fill the entire building facade, creating a beautiful urban nightscape.

On the outer wall of the ‘Seongsu Industrial Innovation Space,’ an anchor facility for Seongsu urban regeneration activated by Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) which began pilot operation in February, a hologram showcasing the history and present of Seongsu-dong has been exhibited since the 17th.

The work is by artist Ha Jun-su under the theme ‘Gijeokdosi (氣積都市, a city formed by the energy of people).’ The first-floor glass wall displays the life trajectories of people who have settled and lived in Seongsu-dong, divided into four contents using old maps and photos, while the second floor uses a 360-degree camera to depict the current developed Seongsu-dong and the Seoul Forest area.

A district official said, “Through this hologram exposure, we aim to inform and promote the changed appearance of the Seongsu area to residents, and we also expect environmental improvement effects under the dark overpass between Ttukseom Station and Seongsu Station.” He added, “In the future, we plan to use the building as a media canvas to develop more diverse content and provide residents with easy access to video works.”

The video is broadcast daily from 7 PM to 10 PM.

The ‘Seongsu Industrial Innovation Space,’ where the hologram exhibition is held, is a core facility of the Seongsu urban regeneration catalyst project. Built in December last year, it serves multiple functions including local economy, jobs, culture, and promotion in Seongsu-dong. The first floor houses a promotional hall showcasing and exhibiting industrial products from the Seongsu area and various experience spaces, while the second floor is used as a youth innovation space for resident programs and education.

Various programs will be operated until March, followed by official opening after the pilot phase in April, aiming to become a hot place for Seongsu urban regeneration.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, “I hope that by broadcasting the hologram video, a work containing the story of Seongsu, at the ‘Seongsu Industrial Innovation Space,’ which will become a trendmark of Seongsu urban regeneration, it will be an opportunity to convey the true beauty of Seongsu to residents visiting the area.”
