[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea District Heating Corporation (KDHC) announced that it signed a business agreement with KT on the 20th to expand the supply of distributed energy centered on renewable energy.


The agreement aims to actively respond to the new climate regime changes by utilizing renewable energy and to expand the promotion of new energy businesses to implement the government's policy of expanding the distribution of renewable energy.


Through the agreement, both parties agreed to ▲mutual cooperation for promoting renewable energy projects (such as solar power and fuel cells) ▲collaboration on the distribution of solar energy storage systems (ESS) ▲joint efforts to activate eco-friendly distributed energy sources and energy efficiency projects.


KDHC plans to develop and expand new energy businesses by integrating KT's various solutions when promoting renewable energy projects, as well as operating its own combined heat and power plants mainly in the metropolitan area.


By combining KDHC's abundant technology and know-how with KT's cutting-edge 5G and big data technologies, they will actively work to expand the distribution of urban-type renewable distributed energy.


Kim Pansoo, Head of Energy Innovation Division at KDHC, said, "Through strategic collaboration with KT, KDHC will apply various innovative technologies combined with next-generation 5G communication technology to new energy businesses, leading the future energy market and securing technological competitiveness."
