Operation of 'Traditional Market Autonomous Quarantine Team' in Dongdaemun-gu

Launch Ceremony Held at 2 PM on the 27th... Active Voluntary Disinfection Conducted at Over 4,000 Stores in 21 Local Traditional Markets

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) is operating a ‘Traditional Market Autonomous Disinfection Team.’ The purpose is to alleviate the anxiety of visitors to traditional markets caused by the spread of COVID-19 by creating a virus-safe traditional market environment through disinfection.

On the 27th at 2 p.m., the district will hold the ‘Traditional Market Autonomous Disinfection Team Launch Ceremony’ at Cheongnyangni General Market (Entrance No. 1) and begin full-scale operations.

The ‘Traditional Market Autonomous Disinfection Team’ consists of a total of 41 merchants from 21 traditional markets in the area, who will conduct disinfection targeting about 4,000 stores. The disinfection team members will autonomously disinfect the stores in their respective markets twice a week and will perform additional disinfection upon request from store owners.

The activity period of the autonomous disinfection team will continue until the COVID-19 spread situation is resolved.

To support the smooth activities of the autonomous disinfection team, the district plans to provide necessary disinfection supplies such as △ disinfectants △ disinfection equipment △ protective clothing △ goggles △ boots △ gloves on an ongoing basis.

Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We appreciate the traditional market merchants for voluntarily participating in COVID-19 disinfection,” and added, “The district will spare no effort to ensure thorough disinfection of traditional markets.”
