"Entry of Chinese Nationals Must Be Strictly Prohibited"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Sohn Hak-kyu, former leader of the Bareunmirae Party, stated on the 25th regarding the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation, “The government should ban mask exports to secure supply, and purchase masks with the budget to distribute them free of charge to residents in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions,” adding, “They should also prepare for free mask distribution to the entire population.”
On the same day, Sohn said on Facebook, “Yesterday, 480,000 masks sold out in just two hours at E-Mart in Daegu,” emphasizing, “The supply of masks and hand sanitizers must be stabilized.”
He stressed, “The government still maintains a negative stance on banning Chinese nationals from entering,” and added, “They must devise firm countermeasures even now.”
He continued, “All foreigners, including Chinese nationals and those transiting through China, should be banned from entry,” and added, “Relations with China should be handled diplomatically, but the entry of Chinese nationals must be strictly prohibited.”
Sohn said, “The government must reassure the public with firm quarantine measures,” and stated, “It was a good decision for President Moon Jae-in to personally visit Daegu today and preside over a special countermeasure meeting. Leaders must step forward themselves, risking danger to protect the lives and health of the people.”
