Pre-candidate Shin Jeong-hoon: "I will increase mandatory hiring of local talents"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Shin Jeong-hoon, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for the National Assembly representing Naju·Hwasun, Jeonnam, announced youth pledges on the 25th, including the activation of the local talent quota system and the establishment of a youth startup platform.

Preliminary candidate Shin Jeong-hoon emphasized, "Our future ultimately depends on how the youth grow," and added, "We will support their efforts with proactive policies to ensure they do not go in vain."

In particular, he stated that he would expand quality jobs by activating the mandatory hiring of local talent in innovation cities, which was proposed by candidate Shin during the last presidential election and finalized in 2017.

The mandatory hiring of local talent required 18% last year, with the standard increasing by 3% annually to reach 30% by 2022.

This year, 2,282 new hires are scheduled at public institutions in Bitgaram Innovation City, of which 548 will be local talents.

Along with this, preliminary candidate Shin promised, "We will support youth job creation through the establishment of an innovative startup platform."

He said, "We will build a specialized platform that can support various startup stages and types (idea realization, prototype production, investment attraction, market creation, market research, etc.) to create a startup ecosystem that meets multiple conditions such as people, systems, and funds," and emphasized, "If such 'innovative startups' are activated, many quality youth jobs can be created."

Preliminary candidate Shin also stated, "To solve youth housing issues announced as a pledge by the Democratic Party in this general election, we will maintain happy housing for youth and newlyweds by region," and added, "We will expand youth jobs through the smooth opening of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) University, the government's second public institution relocation, attracting large energy-related corporations to innovation cities, and securing next-generation synchrotron accelerator research facilities."
