[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jaehee] On the 25th, major Asian stock markets showed mixed trends. The uncertainty in the global economy increased as the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) spread beyond China and Asia to the Middle East and Europe.


South Korea's KOSPI index closed at 2103.61, up 1.18% (24.57 points). The KOSDAQ index also ended the day at 656.95, rising 2.76% (17.66 points).


China's Shanghai Composite Index was trading at 3012.87, down 0.61% (18.36 points) as of 3:34 PM.


Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was trading at 26,852.50, up 0.12% (31.62 points).


On the same day, Taiwan's TAIEX closed at 11,540.23, up 0.05% (5.36 points).


Japan's Nikkei 225 index closed at 22,605.41, down 3.34% (781.33 points) compared to the previous day. This is the lowest level in four months since October 21, 2019.


The TOPIX index closed at 1,618.26, down 3.33% (55.74 points) from the previous day.
