On the 25th, the Korean Basketball League (KBL) held an emergency board meeting and announced, "Due to the spread of COVID-19 and the elevation of the national crisis to the 'serious' stage, to ensure the safety of professional basketball spectators, the remaining schedule for this season will be conducted as games without spectators until the situation improves."
Professional basketball was scheduled to resume normally from the 26th after the national team’s break.
KBL explained, "We will closely monitor the situation and decide whether to resume spectator admission." They added, "During the games without spectators, we will do our utmost to ensure the safety of related personnel by wearing masks and thoroughly implementing quarantine and prevention measures."
On the 10th, KBL D-League (second-tier league) games were held without spectators, and on the 21st, women’s professional basketball also decided to hold games without spectators.
Meanwhile, professional soccer, which is about to start its season, postponed the opening two matches between Daegu and Pohang on the 21st.
