PP Center SSG Delivery to Expand by 20% from the 25th to Alleviate Online Grocery Shopping Inconvenience
60 Additional Delivery Vehicles Secured Nationwide... Reservation Delivery Date Extended by One More Day
Neo Dawn Delivery Volume Increased by 50% from 10,000 to 15,000 Orders
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] SSG.com announced on the 25th that it will increase the volume of 'SSG Delivery' processed at nationwide P.P (Picking & Packing) centers by up to 20% regionally compared to before. Dawn delivery for Seoul and Gyeonggi areas departing from the online store Neo (NE.O) will also be expanded by 50% compared to before. This measure is to respond to the surging demand for online grocery shopping due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
SSG Delivery is the name of SSG.com’s in-house delivery system. When customers order products eligible for SSG Delivery on SSG.com, the items are delivered at the desired time based on the entered address from the online-exclusive center Neo (NE.O) or the nearest Emart in each region.
According to SSG.com, since the COVID-19 outbreak intensified on the 28th of last month, the nationwide average order closing rate for SSG Delivery rose to about 93%. Especially after weekends when confirmed cases surged significantly, the nationwide average order closing rate soared to 99.8%. Considering that the average closing rate before the COVID-19 situation was around 80%, this represents an increase of about 20%.
In particular, in Daegu and some cities in Gyeongsangbuk-do, orders began to surge around 1 p.m. on the 19th, and as of the 23rd, all reservation delivery time slots available until Friday the 28th were fully booked.
In response, SSG.com has established a plan to increase delivery vehicles nationwide by more than 60 units and temporarily increase P.P center staff to raise the volume handled by up to 20% more than before, expanding to about 60,000 orders per day. Currently, SSG.com handles 50,000 deliveries daily not only from the online store Neo but also from Emart P.P centers nationwide.
Furthermore, the available reservation delivery dates will be extended to allow selection up to 5 days after the order date. Previously, reservation delivery could be designated up to 4 days after the order date.
The 'dawn delivery' volume departing from the online store Neo will also increase by 50% from 10,000 to 15,000 orders per day in some areas of Seoul and Gyeonggi starting from the 25th. The daily delivery cutoff, which was previously at midnight, will be temporarily changed to sequential cutoff and sequential delivery to increase the volume handled in a short time.
Chul-min Ahn, Executive Director of SCM Operations at SSG.com, said, "We will actively work to minimize consumer anxiety by delivering necessary goods to the right place at the right time," adding, "We are determined to fully utilize all available resources comprehensively and make every effort to ensure a stable supply of daily necessities."
