[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Yeonju Kim] Gwak Sang-do, a member of the Future United Party, announced on the 24th that he underwent testing for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the same day, Gwak wrote on his Facebook, "This morning (24th), I heard the news that Ha Yoon-su, chairman of the Korea Federation of Teachers' Associations, tested positive for COVID-19," and stated this.
He explained, "On the 19th, Chairman Ha attended a National Assembly forum, and lawmakers including myself, Shim Jae-cheol, Jeon Hee-kyung, Seong Il-jong, and Song Eon-seok also attended the same event," adding, "Later, on the 22nd (Saturday), Chairman Ha was confirmed positive for COVID-19, and after testing those who had contact with him on the 21st and 22nd, all were reported negative."
He continued, "Our office immediately informed the offices of lawmakers who attended the event, panelists, and the audience about this," emphasizing, "Even a 0.1% risk of infection must be promptly shared to prevent further spread."
He added, "Currently, I am in good health," and "The doctor advised self-quarantine until the test results come out tomorrow morning (25th)."
Finally, he said, "I will inform you once the test results are available," and urged, "Please maintain strict personal hygiene and pay close attention to COVID-19 related news."
Meanwhile, Ha, who attended a forum held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building on the 19th, was confirmed positive for COVID-19. Following this, Future United Party floor leader Shim Jae-cheol and lawmakers Gwak Sang-do and Jeon Hee-kyung, who attended the event together, voluntarily underwent hospital testing on the 24th.
