[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dong-jin Lee) convened an emergency disaster safety countermeasure meeting chaired by the Dobong-gu mayor at 9 a.m. on the 24th to significantly strengthen quarantine measures to block the spread to the local community, following the escalation of the COVID-19 crisis alert level to "serious."
At the countermeasure meeting, Mayor Dong-jin Lee requested all departments to work closely and respond proactively with full force regarding △re-inspection of quarantine status at multi-use facilities and nursing institutions △checking the supply status of quarantine supplies such as masks △strengthening emergency care services due to school reopening delays △quarantine and closure measures for Shincheonji religious facilities △public awareness campaigns on COVID-19 "serious" response △emergency support of essential supplies such as masks and hand sanitizers for vulnerable groups to prevent local transmission of COVID-19.
After the emergency countermeasure meeting, Mayor Dong-jin Lee visited local sites including the Public Health Center’s screening clinic, Sindobong Church, Ssangmun Transportation and Hanseong Sangun bus companies, and Dokkaebi Market in Banghak-dong to inspect the quarantine system.
At the Dobong Public Health Center’s screening clinic, he encouraged staff working emergency shifts day and night, visited Sindobong Church to assess the church’s own quarantine status, and discussed plans to conduct online worship services to prepare for the possibility of infection spread due to worship and gatherings.
In particular, he visited two transportation companies located in Chang-dong (Ssangmun Transportation and Hanseong Sangun), delivered 500 masks and 2 boxes of hand sanitizers, and participated in bus disinfection activities with the officials.
He also visited Dokkaebi Market, purchased goods with traditional market gift certificates, and encouraged and comforted merchants who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the impact of COVID-19.
The district conducted a full investigation of Shincheonji-related facilities in the area, closed two education centers, and carried out emergency disinfection of the entire related buildings and surrounding areas.
Additionally, the district supports residents’ voluntary participation in quarantine activities by lending 65 portable disinfection devices stocked at the community service centers to academies and small-scale facilities.
Furthermore, the district has proactively responded to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by completely suspending operations of about 80 multi-use facilities including welfare, cultural, and sports facilities operated by the district (including lecture programs) after February 5.
Mayor Dong-jin Lee of Dobong-gu said, “Although no confirmed cases have occurred in Dobong-gu yet, we will thoroughly implement quarantine prevention measures to prevent COVID-19 from spreading in the local community. We are fully cooperating with all related organizations for a total response, so we ask residents to strictly follow prevention guidelines and join forces to overcome this together.”
