Emergency Response Meeting for COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Amid growing concerns about the community spread of COVID-19, Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) held an emergency countermeasure meeting for COVID-19 response at 9 a.m. on the 24th in the Planning Situation Room of the district office.

At the emergency countermeasure meeting, Mayor Yu Seong-hoon, Vice Mayor Kim Young-sung, and heads of various departments attended to discuss the damage caused by the spread of COVID-19 and the countermeasures by each department.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon urged, “To prevent COVID-19, thorough disinfection should be carried out throughout the district, focusing on the autonomous disaster prevention teams by neighborhood, vulnerable facilities, and community hope areas. Also, the emergency contact system must be thoroughly checked in preparation for any confirmed cases.”

He continued, “As facilities used by vulnerable groups such as senior centers and welfare centers enter long-term closure, detailed measures should be prepared for senior meal services and depression. Additionally, active support plans for the local economy, including traditional markets and small business owners affected by the spread of COVID-19, should be established.”

On the 23rd, as the COVID-19 infectious disease crisis alert level was raised to ‘Severe,’ the district strengthened the operation of the local disaster safety countermeasure headquarters, switching to a 24-hour full-time system with six teams: Infectious Disease Management General Team, Medical Resource Management Team, Living Stability Support Team, Disaster Public Relations Team, Administrative Support Team, and External Cooperation Team.

Furthermore, to strengthen the functions of the local disaster safety countermeasure headquarters, emergency funds will be urgently injected to reinforce quarantine personnel, support the purchase of disinfection supplies for vulnerable facilities, and make every effort to prevent COVID-19.
