[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] DGB Daegu Bank announced on the 24th that it has donated 1 billion KRW to Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-do through the Daegu-Gyeongbuk branch of the Korean Red Cross to overcome the crisis in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
To support the regions and residents affected by the spread of COVID-19, 500 million KRW was donated to Daegu and 500 million KRW to Gyeongsangbuk-do respectively. These funds will be used for relief supplies for vulnerable groups affected by COVID-19, purchase of protective equipment for medical staff, and relief projects for COVID-19 victims.
The labor union also stepped up to help overcome the regional crisis. The Daegu Bank branch of the National Financial Industry Labor Union is conducting a voluntary fundraising campaign among bank employees. The funds raised will be combined with the fund created through the '1% Salary Sharing Campaign,' which has been in operation since 2011, and will be delivered to Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-do.
