Jang Man-chae Preliminary Candidate "Will Do Our Best to Defeat COVID-19"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Amid the nationwide spread of COVID-19, Jang Man-chae, the Democratic Party of Korea's prospective candidate for Suncheon National Assembly, has declared changes in election methods to minimize face-to-face contact for the safety of citizens.

Prospective candidate Jang commented that it is very fortunate that Suncheon has not yet experienced local infections, and emphasized that he is actively working to block COVID-19 in the region by frequently sharing health information such as prevention guidelines through SNS rather than appealing for voter support, urging all citizens to cooperate.

Candidate Jang highly praised the proactive and leading decision by Heo Seok, Mayor of Suncheon, and Lee Sang-dae, Chairman of the Suncheon Sports Council, to temporarily close all sports facilities in Suncheon starting from the 24th to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and said, “Although it may be somewhat inconvenient for Suncheon citizens, I expect them to actively cooperate for their health and safety.”

Candidate Jang stated that in election methods, he will pay special attention to protecting voters' health by strengthening phone calls or SNS activities as much as possible rather than direct face-to-face contact.

He also explained that various efforts are being made to ensure citizens' safety and block COVID-19, such as disinfecting the election office, which many Suncheon voters visit, once a day.

Jang Man-chae emphasized, “Although the spread of COVID-19 is a national crisis and a serious situation, rather than responding with vague fear, if the great citizens of Suncheon gather their active wisdom, exchange information, and unite with consideration and care, we can eventually overcome it,” appealing to unite the hearts of citizens and overcome the challenge together.

Meanwhile, considering the medical reality of Suncheon, where emergency isolation rooms for treating emergency patients are significantly lacking, candidate Jang has promised to actively promote the establishment of a medical school in Suncheon as a key campaign pledge.

Jang Man-chae served as a professor and president at Suncheon National University and was the 16th and 17th Jeonnam Superintendent of Education.
