The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced on the 24th at 4 p.m. that the number of new COVID-19 cases increased by 70 compared to 9 a.m. In the morning, 161 new cases were reported, bringing the total number of new cases for the day to 231. The eighth death was confirmed to be a patient related to Cheongdo Daenam Hospital who was transferred to Kyungpook National University Hospital for treatment and died there.
Among the 70 new cases, 53 were from Daegu and Gyeongbuk (Daegu 41, Gyeongbuk 12). Accordingly, the total number of confirmed cases in Daegu and Gyeongbuk rose to 681. There were 12 cases in Busan, 2 in Gyeonggi, and 1 each in Seoul, Daejeon, and Ulsan. As of the afternoon, the connection of the new cases to the Shincheonji Daegu Church has not been confirmed.
As of the morning, the total number of confirmed cases related to Shincheonji Daegu Church is 456. The related confirmed cases include not only church members but also their families and contacts. The total number of confirmed cases related to Cheongdo Daenam Hospital is 113.
