[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Coway will suspend its environmental appliance visit management service and home care visit management service in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions starting from the 25th. The suspension will be temporary until the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) situation calms down.
According to related industries on the 24th, Coway will temporarily suspend customer visit management services for environmental appliances such as water purifiers and home care products such as mattresses. In other regions, visit management services will be postponed upon customer request.
For after-service (AS) requests, Coway will provide services while taking thorough hygiene measures such as wearing sanitary gloves and masks to minimize customer inconvenience.
This service suspension is a proactive measure for the safety of customers and employees. Coway is operating an emergency task force (TF) and is monitoring the situation in real-time at business sites nationwide according to the response manual to ensure safety.
There have been numerous confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. Emergency disinfection is being conducted at Coway business sites located in these areas. Additionally, hygiene equipment such as masks and hand sanitizers are being provided to on-site personnel to ensure thorough hygiene. Customers are urged to strictly follow preventive measures such as wearing masks and washing hands to aid prevention efforts.
Furthermore, all meetings at Coway business sites are either postponed or replaced with video conferences to minimize contact between individual employees. Various events and training sessions where many people gather are canceled, and employees are advised to refrain from domestic and international business trips, overseas travel, and company dinners. Access by outsiders is also restricted through enhanced office disinfection.
Coway stated that there are currently no confirmed COVID-19 cases at its headquarters, research centers, factories, or field offices nationwide. A Coway official said, "In response to the rapidly spreading COVID-19 nationwide, the company judged that it is most important to proactively secure the safety of customers and the local community, and therefore decided to temporarily postpone visit management services."
Similarly, Kyowon Group, which operates environmental appliance and home care visit management service businesses, has temporarily closed 15 Wells business sites and 14 Edu Centers located in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. A Kyowon Group official said, "We are advising employees and business partners not to come to the business sites and centers."
