[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Recently, as domestic 'COVID-19' confirmed cases have surged and deaths have occurred, causing infectious diseases to spread rapidly in the country, the Coast Guard is doing its best to prevent the spread.

Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Jeong Young-jin) announced on the 24th that, with 'COVID-19' elevated to a serious stage, patrol vessel response protocols and mandatory police leave and visitations are completely prohibited.

Furthermore, the operations of external civil complaint departments such as patrol vessels and substations are restricted, and disinfection cleaning before and after dispatch, as well as follow-up measures against marine inflow, are being intensively implemented.

Accordingly, the Coast Guard is focusing on virus disease prevention and safety areas including ▲ cooperation with COVID-19 information notices for building entrants ▲ blocking infectious disease inflow via the sea ▲ minimizing contact with visitors at substations and branch offices ▲ avoiding face-to-face inspections of domestic and foreign vessels ▲ all staff wearing masks ▲ and compliance with response manuals when transporting emergency patients by sea in island regions.

Chief Jeong Young-jin said, "Recently, confirmed cases of 'COVID-19' are increasing," and urged, "Please refrain from entering places with many unspecified people for the time being and do your best to manage personal hygiene such as wearing masks."

Meanwhile, Mokpo Coast Guard is strengthening measures to prevent the spread of 'COVID-19,' including holding a nationwide commanders' video conference chaired by the Commissioner of the Korea Coast Guard in the morning.
