"Please check your temperature before entering~"... Jungnang-gu Strengthens COVID-19 Response Checking body temperature at the entrance door on the first floor of the district office

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] “Hello, you need to have your temperature checked before entering.”

At 8 a.m. on the 24th, on the way to work, an administrative support department employee at Jungnang-gu Office conducts temperature checks on employees arriving for work. Both the staff checking temperatures and the employees entering show tense expressions. This is the new morning routine at Jungnang-gu Office due to COVID-19.

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) announced that it has strengthened its response system as the COVID-19 crisis alert level was raised to "serious." The district installed thermal detectors at the first floor and underground parking lot entrances of Jungnang-gu Office and conducts separate temperature checks to prevent the spread of infection through office entry.

In addition, on the 22nd and 23rd, the district conducted on-site inspections and disinfection at six Shincheonji religious facilities to prevent the spread of cluster infections within the local community in advance.

Currently, the Shincheonji religious facilities are self-closed, and continuous inspections will be conducted to maintain disinfection and closure status.

Moreover, 127 senior centers and 5 senior welfare centers in Jungnang-gu, totaling 212 places frequently used by many people, have been closed, and 424 programs at community centers have been temporarily suspended.

Kindergartens, including Myeonmok Elementary School-affiliated Kindergarten, and 80 elementary, middle, and high schools have postponed the start of the semester from March 2 to March 9.

Inconveniences to residents due to closures and program suspensions have been minimized. The district prepared substitute meals at senior dining halls so that elderly people who used the existing dining halls can take meals home. Considering working couples, daycare centers are allowing voluntary attendance, and emergency care services continue at Kiwoom Centers and others.

As libraries are closed, borrowed books can be returned via unmanned return machines or local community centers, and at smart libraries located at Mangwoo Station and Yongmasan Station, book lending and returns are available. However, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, existing public health center services are being reduced.

The district has suspended services such as medical treatment, tuberculosis screening, metabolic syndrome checks, vaccinations, and physical therapy, and has further strengthened the infection prevention response system following the elevation of the infection crisis alert level.

First, the COVID-19-related call center staff has been reinforced. As inquiries related to the infection increased, additional personnel were assigned to the call center to ensure no inconvenience in its use.

Along with this, the number of staff operating the screening clinics has been increased, and additional waiting areas have been set up to improve convenience for residents waiting.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “We have currently implemented 226% of disinfection activities, and if the number of residents using the screening clinics increases, we are considering installing additional clinics. Through daily disaster safety meetings, we share information related to COVID-19 and cooperate with related organizations to prevent local transmission in advance, doing our best to ensure all residents can live safely.”
