[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, said on the 24th regarding the possibility of an electoral alliance with the United Future Party, "The representatives or the nomination committee chair there rather said they have no intention."

On the same day, Ahn appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "There is probably no need to ask me about it."

When asked if there are voices among People’s Party lawmakers wishing for integration or alliance, Ahn said, "Each lawmaker is in a different situation, so they must be having many concerns," and added, "I told them, 'Whatever choice you make, I will respect it, so please do not feel uncomfortable.'"

Regarding the low party approval rating, he said, "When we first founded the People’s Party four years ago, the approval rating was not that high. Many political commentators even made predictions close to curses, but in the end, wise citizens created the People’s Party," and added, "To be chosen again, we need to do much better."

He also said, "There is a book titled 'You Become an Adult After Being Shaken 1000 Times,' and I think that applies to both people and political parties. If we show that we can overcome various trials to that extent, I believe the public will send us their trust."

Regarding the United Future Party’s statement that they would pursue the impeachment of President Moon Jae-in if they win the general election, Ahn said, "(That claim) went too far," and added, "Right now, we are in a national crisis due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). At this time, all citizens must unite and do their best to overcome this crisis."
