[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 23rd that it has prepared emergency support measures for residents in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas, which are designated as special management zones for infectious diseases related to 'COVID-19.'
First, starting from the 25th, KB Kookmin Bank will temporarily waive fees for internet banking, Star Banking, and automated teller machine (ATM) usage for customers in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. This waiver of fees for non-face-to-face channels is implemented to provide financial convenience to KB Kookmin Bank customers in Daegu and Gyeongbuk affected by 'COVID-19' and to minimize customer damages caused by the virus.
Customers of KB Kookmin Bank in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas will be exempt from fees when using internet banking and Star Banking, and will also receive fee waivers for using in-branch and out-of-branch ATMs. However, this excludes customers using other banks' ATMs, customers of other banks, and customers using brand-affiliated devices.
Additionally, support will be provided for small business owners and vulnerable groups in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. Approximately 100 million KRW worth of daily necessities will be purchased at traditional markets in Daegu and Gyeongbuk using local love gift certificates to help revitalize the depressed local economy. Furthermore, the purchased goods will be delivered to disadvantaged neighbors such as children at child welfare centers and regional children's centers in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, helping local residents overcome 'COVID-19.'
Moreover, KB Kookmin Bank will conduct emergency disinfection and deliver about 10,000 masks and hand sanitizers to the Daegu Chimsan-dong branch, which is resuming limited operations from the 24th, the substitute business office Daegu 3 Industrial Complex Comprehensive Financial Center, and vulnerable groups in the region.
A KB Kookmin Bank official stated, "We will continuously prepare comprehensive support measures, including minimizing customer inconvenience related to COVID-19 and providing practical financial support," adding, "We hope to contribute to preventing further spread of the COVID-19 virus and to its swift stabilization."
