[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Gwangju Metropolitan City has increased by 2.
As of now, the total cumulative confirmed cases are 8, with 2 patients having recovered and been discharged, and 6 patients currently isolated and receiving treatment in negative pressure rooms.
According to health authorities on the 23rd, A (31, female), the wife of patient number 126 who visited the Shincheonji Church in Daegu, tested positive for COVID-19 this morning.
Although she did not attend the Shincheonji Church in Daegu with patient 126, she was a close contact and showed some symptoms, so she was isolated in a negative pressure room at Chosun University Hospital.
Earlier, B (32), a resident of Nam-gu, was also confirmed positive in a COVID-19 test conducted the previous day.
B is known to have met patient 126 and studied the Bible together at the Shincheonji Church in Nam-gu on the 17th and 18th.
Although asymptomatic, due to underlying health conditions and anxiety, B voluntarily requested testing, and a specimen was collected at the Nam-gu Public Health Center screening clinic.
Health authorities and Gwangju City are focusing on tracing the movements and contacts of the confirmed patients.
Meanwhile, the suspected COVID-19 patient who collapsed and caused a chase at a large bookstore the previous day tested negative, and C (41), who was unable to breathe at an apartment in Gak-hwa-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju at around 2:40 a.m. today and was transported to Chonnam National University Hospital, has recovered cardiopulmonary function but was found to have pneumonia symptoms during testing.
He was isolated and underwent specimen testing, and the paramedics who transported him are also quarantined while awaiting results in preparation for a possible positive diagnosis.
